This 41-year-old woman was very active, exercising nearly every day until a disc herniation at the L4-5 interspace causing significant back and leg pain. This left her disabled and unable to stand up straight or take care of her children.
After failing conservative measures including medications, injections, and physical therapy, she underwent a microdiscectomy with a MIS approach through a 1-inch incision. Her leg pain resolved immediately, and she was able to return to all of her previous activities.
